We always do the same... exact...thing every time. There are factions that just hoard materials and weapons. Thats all survival is... hoarding materials. It is the same shit that happens every time we do a survival world. Hlot talked about how there needs to be a change up from that pattern and I agree on it. We need to put heads together and not be repetitive like we have.

I dont think we NEED to change the survival in skagoos hoarding is a play style for some factions (Sirrus and i) and attacking is another (links hlots) I think the sruviva here is fun because we keep it kinda vanilla and everyone does their own thing

1. Skagos is infinite. A lot of players like to build thousands of blocks away from spawn, and what's worse: spawn got moved 8,000 blocks away from its original spot. What's the fun in moving so far out that you'll never see a foreign soul again? I suggest making a world with a 2000 or 3000 block radius using a plugin like WorldBorder. A map of 4000x4000 or at least 6000x6000 would be nice.
2. I notice most factions on the server right now are allied to each other. In my opinion, Minecraft survival is boring after you've gotten a stable food source and armor strong enough to stand up to mobs. Your only options after you're done hoarding resources is to go PvP or build, and even then you're much better off building in creative than in survival. It would be interesting if we got a friendly competition of Minecraft survival going. Someone suggested we limit the number of factions to 2 or 4, each lead by leaders with competitive spirit.

Skagos is basically meant to be what we learned from Westeros.
1) In Westeros, spawn quickly became crowded as several bases formed near it around the same time.
2) Because bases were usually relatively close to each other, factions could go to war on a whim. Even if someone on the attacking faction died, it wouldn't take long for them to get right back into it. In my opinion this kinda devalued PvP. In Skagos, if you're going to attack another faction, it's far away enough that you need to balance survival with whether you can part with your best gear, 'cause chances are if you die you aren't going to make it back.
3) Too many people wanted their own faction in Westeros. Few factions reached more than two members. In Skagos, one-man factions are pointless as they cannot claim land.
4) On the other hand, factions in Westeros became monopolized; in the end Sirrus Farms and Mongooses had probably 90% of Westeros participants in their factions. In Skagos there's no benefit to more than five members.
5) If the number of factions is limited, new players will simply all seek the more powerful faction, which quickly tips the scales.
6) Hoarding is a playstyle, as JJ said. From what I understand Hired Goons is supposed to be nomadic, meaning they can't hoard resources very well. Even as such, they've more than held their ground despite the limitation.

Personally, I'm enjoying Skagos. I like having my own private area to thrive far from attackers. But I also know I'm at risk, as competing factions, allies or not, are aware of my position. Fact is if they're going to attack me, they probably had to travel far enough that they're ready.

I'd be up for a Survival world in which it was just purely Co-op. Not having to worry about factions and having to walk away from spawn for an hour before building anything. I think the main turn-off for me in our survival worlds is that I have to go with one option or the other:

1. Join a faction. With factions going to war and the like, it's borderline stupid to ever build anything outside of your main faction base.
2. Don't join a faction. Accept that you'll never see anyone in that world ever again because you have to be so far away from spawn to be safe from everyone else.

Nothing ever feels like it's truly yours. If it does, it doesn't matter because you'll never see another player ever again.
I'm always on creative so I'm sure everyone assumes I hate survival. I don't. I love survival. The problem is that I hate PVP, and it seems like we can't have a survival world without having it not only PVP enabled, but CENTERED around it.

Eh, consider me ignorant but from my perspective PvP is one of the only things that truly seperate Survival from Creative.

Think of it this way: Without PvP, what're you doing? Gathering resources, and eventually hoarding them. You make better armor and weapons, better tools. Soon practically all monsters become trivial, you learn how to avoid other forms of damage (falling, lava, etc), and there's less and less of a point to go anywhere because you have everything. Without PvP, you're left with one option: building. To me that's just creative with limited resources.

In Skagos right now, my ender chest is filled with two stacks of diamonds, two stacks of emeralds, two sets of enchanted diamond armor, three enchanted diamond swords, a few higher-end potions, and the rest is enchanted diamond tools. I built the best-looking house I think I've ever made myself, I have farms for the more essential reneweable resources, and my base's storage is packed with outrageous amounts of every resource I care about. Other than a mob farm and maybe expanding my storage, there's not a whole lot left for me to build or craft, and therefore exploration is becoming more and more unnecessary. If it weren't for PvP, I'd have little reason outside of socialization to come on.

But that's just me, and I'm sure others have a different perspective.
