The reason AC2 seems so great to everyone was because it was such a step up from the previous game. It had a character with a backstory, vastly improved fighting mechanics, a real plot and the repetitive nature was non-existant. We watched Ezio grow into not only an assassin, but a man. Anything after that couldn't impress us as much simply because the developers didn't have enough they could improve upon. They continually refine the game with each new entry into the series, but it's virtually impossible to give the game the same story boost as was seen with the second, because we've already seen it once before.

AC4 has been in development since mid 2011, so this whole deal with thinking it's rushed because they come out with a new title every year is nonsense.

Just felt I should clear this up.
