Nova can't talk

It only shows up like this.
I checked his perms and those looked fine.

Next time he's on have him try '/ch g', or '/ch join general' if that doesn't work.

Thing is, only I seem to be able to read what he says, while he cant read what I say.
I left a sign with instructions at the last place he changed a block.

Hey I lagged out and It just randomly happened again, I don't know now if its my side or the servers

Edit: in case anyone's interested I get this when I lag out
