Server is now running 1.9 pre release - instructions to upgrade.

1) Locate your minecraft folder. on windows it should be called .minecraft inside it should have minecraft.jar. if in doubt, just search for minecraft.jar.
2) download the new minecraft.jar here
3) replace old minecraft.jar (might wanna back it up) with the new one you just downloaded

if that doesn't work (taters) the simplest thing to do is go to www.minecraft.net, download minecraft.exe, run it once, find the .minecraft folder it just created, and replace the jar as detailed above.

It's really quite simple. it's a matter of finding one file and replacing it with another that I have provided. Crazzy could do it.

Can you people wait the two days for notch to debug the fucking update or do you have to go hunt for a leak and mess up your .jar just to play it 2 days in advance? Im gonna get the legit version so ill be on terraria til then.

Game mechanics changes

I downloaded it just like in the 1.8 pre thingy but it stops at the done loading screen at like 95% !!!
I don't know what to do!
I even tried the Taters way help!
