War of the Castles

This will be done in a copy of the area around the two castles, see the picture.
New war Wednesday night at around 7ish.

It'll be Ndog's team verses Jamie's team. each team (of 5-12 people) will start in their respective castles and have to travel to the other castle and kill the other team's leader. Each team will start with chests of materials (Iron, TNT, eggs, a few apples, etc...) Most commands will not be allowed (/warp,/tp,/give) but Spells, MoveCraft and Egg-Grenades will. The "King" on each side will have a Thunder Sword. No Fly mod. Each team will need to figure out a way to communicate privately and effectively.

ALL CHANGES TO CASTLES DUE IN BY FRIDAY 7/8 (midnight EST thursday)
It will take me a while to set up a balanced map for this.
you CAN set up cannons on your castles but they will be unloaded when the war starts.

Ndog's team = Chainmail team
Jamie's team = Gold team

Note:you will start the castle war with NO SPELLS. you must find them again for the game. this will not effect your spell list in the main world.

There will also be a few labeled one learn only spell bookcases. (probably combust/heal/return to castle) Don't be the dick on your team who takes all of them. The idea would be to teach one person heal and have them focus on that magic wise while someone else has fireball for attacking. If a dick on your team takes all of them don't expect any sympathy from me, he's your dick.

Additional chests and spells will be hidden in nearby areas and caves (i.e. the Pagoda)

The "technology" to build movecraft vehicles will also have to be found.

There's no real limit to how long this will go on other than until one side's king is dead. That being said I'd suggest you assign at least one player to guard your king at all times.

We probably won't do this until Monday at the earliest, I wanna wait for some more ram I ordered (more ram = less explosion lag.) Lets work out the rules in this thread.

-new spell to return you to team spawn (your castle)


Btw, flymod will not be allowed. this will be rather harshly enforced. you get kicked for flying you are disqualified.

1: 3 Full sets of Iron and 30ish tnt (unless they are manning a cannon, then they get a chest full next to the cannon) for each member and 3 full sets of Diamond for each "King". A chest of eggs (not stacked) and a chest full of apples for each group of 3 members. also a Chest full of bows and arrows in each tower for defense.

2: Yes, makes night more interesting

3: no blink, lots of holes in the castles, but no picks allowed, must use tnt in some way...or punch it out i guess...

4: Yes, arena is in the way. Yes we can add some BIG trees and rivers and some cliffs for ambushes and things like that

5: I'm thinking either completely destroy opponent's castle, or occupy the castle for a full day and night (at least 3 members in for that whole time)

Well i guess I'm obviously on my team...should we wait for others to sign up and then have a "draft" or just let the people pick their own team? with changes to make it fair...

And the pagota can be an occupation point, like if you get there you can make it your home and /home there if you die
I'm also thinking of maybe you getting a factions mod? and then we can just use faction chat to talk during the battle.
Maybe the King can make a private warp to their castle and use that to get teammates back to the castle after death quickly.

thats all i got for now, ill add more stuff if i think of it...

1) What do we want in the inventory chests for each castle?
- 2 flint and steel
- 1 stack TNT
- maybe 5 iron blocks
- a stack of wood
- a stack of any food item
- maybe 30ish obsidian to be used to fortify the castle

2) Monsters enabled or no?
Yesh please.

3) Allow blink? or do we want breaking the castles walls to be a major part of it
Lets be able to break into the castles or tunnel in or something

4) Should I get rid of that huge arena? Should we add more features between the castles? Maybe a forest or rivers?
We can add mini forts or mini castles along the way (explained below)

5) should it be "kill the king" "capture the flag" or "King of the hill?"
- We could do sort of a domination type of war game, where capture points are located all along the map on forts or small castles, with two being in each respective team's castle. The team that captures x amount of capture points then captures the capture point inside the other team's castle wins.
- There could also be a demolish the castle sort of game where the first team to destroy the other teams castle wins.

Both armors have the same defensive value, so it's fair. Both teams will have to gather resources for the most part, but will start with chests containing the following:
-10 sets of their team's armor

Most plugins will be disabled, the following will remain on:
AdminChat
advanced bans v0.4_2 - Auto IP bans people when you do /ban
BookWorm - Read and write books and place them in bookshelves
ChangeName - change users display name
EggRenade - type /grenade to turn eggs into grenades. (will work in castle war)
Factions - Lets you form factions that have "power." No idea beyond that.
FirstLastSeen - Lets you check when someone was last on with /lastseen <player>
GoldenRevive - Golden Apples revive you automatically when you die with one in your inv.
HeroicDeath - Embarrasses you when you die.
HeroSpawn - Can spawn new people in special location, not currently used.
iChat -Colored chat. For team colors. Planning with your team in Mc chat is not recommended
InvClear - lets mods do /clearinv <player>
LogBlock - Will be used to check for cheating
MagicSpells - Allows you to learn and cast spells with a stick.
MultiInv_2.3.0 - separate inventory for each world
MultiVerse - Multiple worlds.
OpenInv - Lets mods do /openinv <player> to open their inventory like a chest. used to check for cheating
OtherBlocks -lets me control block/mob drops. Not using it as much as I should.
PerformaceTweaks - Keeps chunks in server ram longer, in theory improving performance for you guys. will make more of a difference when I get more ram
Permissions - Keeps you from using all the cool shit
PetCreeper -Tame mobs other than wolves. see "guide to taming creatures"
PlayerList -/who, /who all
WelcomeMe - Logon message informing people of the war.
Zeus -Gives kings thunder sword.

Also I'm thinking participation will be "extremely encouraged." if you're not playing you're free to play in the main world but there will be some weird shit going on. half the plugins will be off, and everything you do may be lost. this is because A) It's just easier this way, and B) fuck you, join the castle wars.

Better protection for the castles

u should see if there is a gate mod on bukkit it makes fences extend to u can raise and lower your gate as if were real and pervent people shooting through your entrance and preventing people from just being lame and putting sand or somthing and filling the moats and just walking in. aka makes them want to blow a hole in the walls or somthing like that so please look into it it would be great.

There is a gate mod, and I will install it soon. Even with the fence gate closed we're probably going to want a little more security. I've no idea if arrows can fly through fences, probably not.

as for filling the moat with sand I dunno how we would prevent that, short of killing them while they do it.

I will try to make this happen, but things might be a little weird. Any plugin that has multi-world support should be fine, I'll tune the features for each world. Some plugins do not, and thus if I don't want them in effect I have to disable them globally for the duration of the castle games.

We had a few small test wars tonight. Things were rocky at first but hopefully we fixed most of the bugs. It was fun.
