So monday (hopefully.) we will update to 1.8. I will make a point of waking up early and whatnot. Bukkit is going to take some time to update. At least a couple hours, probably a couple days. (Largely dependent on whether Mojang gives them the update early.) For those of you who don't know Bukkit is the alternate server software that we run, allowing us to use all of our plugins. We cannot run our main world without WorldGuard running to block the spread of fire, or a lot of stuff will burn down.


So monday we will start a new map, called Ivalice that will be our first completely 1.8 generated map. The old maps will not be deleted, but they will not be accessible until bukkit updates to a 1.8 compatible version. Even after they are accessible I expect people will prefer to play in the new 1.8 world, which will be the only world to have ravines/NPC towns (though NPC's themselves are not present in 1.8 )/oceans/abandoned mineshafts/etc. Still "World" and "Skyrim" will remain. Skyrim is small enough that you can walk a reasonable distance from spawn and you'll generated new chunks that will have 1.8 features. "World" is huuuuge (you can go to http://merp.mooo.com:8111 to get an idea how huge.) and I expect it to end up mostly abandoned, but never removed. It will of course be possible to make .schematics of some of your buildings in "world" and bring them to the new 1.8 map once bukkit updates.


Also since we'll be vanilla for a bit, you'll loose all crazy powers and colored names. banned people will remain banned. No one will have /give except me and I won't use be using it. It should be a really fun time of playing good old vanilla minecraft and exploring new features, and I hope you'll all pop on sometime monday to play.

Is it possible to add .schematics that have not been build on this server, if provided?

First of all Eric, you're awesome.
Second, it's a small town, featuring a replica mansion and a 90 block high underground lab.
If it's too big, I'll just select the two biggest creations and repost them without the smaller buildings.

I found my first ravine next to spawn...it's awesome.

I wonder if we could use the save file from this version for the final 1.8 though

Things found so far:
-Pig snouts
-ravines
-very deep lakes
-new biome generation

Yes, this is leaked buggy 1.8, but it's something.

I am on the server alone right now while others try to connect with outdated clients. Wish more people checked the boards.

someone patched the massive orb lag, so mobs are back on and creative mode off by default now.
